The Fastest Ever White Man

Christophe Lemaitre - The first white man to run under 10s

Well, I said that it would never happen, and even that it could never happen, but on the afternoon of 9th July 2010 –  a white man broke the magic 10 second barrier in the 100m.

That man was 20 year old French Sprinter Christophe Lemaitre.

The 10 Second Barrier

Only 71 men had gone under 10s before him, the first being of course Jim Hines in 1968 when he ran 9.95s in the Olympic Final in Mexico City. Although it was run at altitude, where the air is thinner and constitutes an advantage in the sprints, the IAAF accepted the time, and would do the same today. To give you an idea of the difference it would make, had Bolt run his 9.58s time in Mexico City, he would have run 9.49s. Jim Hines adjusted time would be 10.03s, equaling his PB and World Record at the time.

Jim Hines, the first man to run the 100m in under 10 seconds, albeit at altitude.

Jim Hines ran under 10s in the 100m in 1968.

The next man to break 10 seconds, Silvio Leonard, did so nine years later, again at altitude in Guadalajara Mexico, his adjusted time would be 10.02s, which would have been a new World Record, were it not for the fact that Hines ran his at a higher altitude. Six years later, in 1983, it was broken again, but this time at low altitude by the great Carl Lewis with 9.97s. Discounting the high altitude runs, which sadly the IAAF does not do, that would be the first ever sub ten second run, and the world record.

Calvin Smith went on to be the fourth man to break ten seconds shortly afterward, with a world record time of 9.93s, again at altitude, adjusted it would have been 9.98s. After that the sub 10 second times came a little quicker, with four more men going under before 1990, one of whom was the first European – Linford Christie, although technically he was born in Jamaica. Between 1990 and 2000, 22 more men joined the exclusive sub ten seconds club, almost double the number of men ran sub 10s in the following decade (40),  and the 10s barrier went from being rarely broken, to expected.

In the 1984 100m Olympic Final only one man (Carl Lewis – 9.99s) ran  under 10s, by the 2004 final, only one man ran slower than 10s. Breaking the ten second barrier doesn’t hold the same prestige that it once did, but it is still an important barrier, particulary in Europe. Lemaitre is the first European to break the 10s barrier since his countryman, Ronald Pognon five years ago, and only the fifth European ever to have done it (Two Frenchmen, Three Britons).

The Fastest White Men

Technically, the first white man to run under 10s was actually Polish sprinter, Marian Woronin in 1984, whose time of 9.992s was rounded to 10.00s. Although there is quite a bit of doubt about this time as it was run on his home track, with the maximum allowed wind, and he had never run under 10.10s before, or since.

Indeed if you look at the top ten white sprinters list below, many of the top times are either at altitude, or lacking in credibility.

  1. 9.98 (+1.3) Christophe Lemaitre (FRA) 09.07.2010
  2. 10.00 (+2.0) Marian Woronin (POL) 09.06.1984 – Dubious
  3. 10.01A (0.0) Pietro Mennea (ITA) 04.09.1979 – Altitude
  4. 10.03A (0.0) Nicolas Macrozonaris (CAN) 03.05.2003 – Altitude
  5. 10.03 (-0.1) Matthew Shirvington (AUS) 17.09.1998
  6. 10.06A (+2.0) Johan Rossouw (RSA) 23.04.1988 – Altitude
  7. 10.06 (+1.2) Simone Collio (ITA) 27.01.2009
  8. 10.06 (+1.9) Frank Emmelmann (GDR) 22.09.1985
  9. 10.07 (±0.0) Valeriy Borzov (UKR) 31.08.1972
  10. 10.08 (+1.3) Ramil Guliyev (AZE) 13.06.2009

Valeriy Borzov beating American Bob Taylor into second place in the 1972 Olympic Final

Valeriy Borzov winning the 100m Olympic Final in 1972, American Bob Taylor was second.

For decades, the man most people considered to be the fastest white sprinter was Russian, Valeriy Borzov. Emmelmann may have run faster in 1985, but had Borzov had the same wind as Emmelmann, he’d have run 9.96s in 1972. Indeed had Borzov run his time in Mexico City, rather than in Munich, he’d have run 9.99s, as well as equalling Mennea’s 1979 World Record in the 200m (had Borzov run in Mexico City with the same wind as Mennea would later have, he’d have run an incredible 19.63s). Borzov truly was ahead of his time and unfortunate that he didn’t achieve more.

Then came Matt Shirvington in 1998, running under 10.1s three times in his career, the only white man to break the 10.1s barrier more than once. Until of course, Christophe Lemaitre, who now has more sub 10.1s times than any white sprinter, as well as the only sub 10s time, and who has also made Marian Woronin’s dubious time, irrelevant.

The World Record

As staggering achievement as it is for Lemaitre, the other top sprinters won’t be losing any sleep over it; as he said himself:

“This was my goal to break it of course. One has to run under 10 seconds in order to be part of the world’s best. I will be recognised as the first white man to run it, but today is mainly historical for myself!”

The likes of Bolt, Powell and Gay are still running nearly a quarter of a second faster (almost half a second faster in Bolts case), and so Lemaitre certainly won’t be challenging for medals any time soon. However the 10s barrier has long been more psychological  than physical barrier to most athletes, and once breached and out of the way, takes a little pressure off.  I don’t think that Lemaitre will go much faster however, he only has a couple more good years left in him, and I think it unlikely that he’ll break 9.9s, but then I said the same about the 10s barrier.

Sssh! Don’t Mention the Whites

Christophe Lemaitre running under 10s. Few people are likely to have noticed however, as it was barely reported outside of France.

It it worth noting that Lemaitre’s achievement has not even merited a mention in the press here, the BBC website’s latest story even mentioning Lemaitre is only a quick remark about him breaking the French record, and that has taken nearly a week to appear. Few other news articles mention anything other than the fact that he broke the French record, even the IAAF make no mention of the fact that he was the first white man to run under 10s.

This once again demonstrates the double standards that modern society seems to hold regarding race, a quick search of the IAAF site for ‘first black’ returns hundreds of results, from the first black African woman to win an Olympic title (Derartu Tulu – 1992) to the first black man to win an Olympic Medal (John Taylor – 1912), yet the same for ‘first white’, save for Lemaitre himself mentioning it, just returns lots of people named White, coming first.

It seems that the media falls over themselves to congratulate the first black (insert mediocre achievement here) on overcoming adversity, with regular stories on how tough ethnic minorities have had it really laid on thick. Take Obama for instance, if I’d had a pound for every mention of ‘the first black President’, I would be a billionaire. Yet it seems that no matter what the accomplishment, if it is made by a white man it is considered wrong to even mention it, as if by doing so we’d be at worst going back to the days of slavery and apartheid, at best demonstrating white racism.

The only example in the UK press that I could find any mention of Lemaitre being the fastest white man was at the Daily Mail site, yet even here they believe that merely by mentioning it they have sailed too close to the wind, and any congratulatory or joyful comments is a step too far and so they banned any comments.

This sickening self flagellation by well off, middle class, left leaning liberals is destroying community cohesion and driving disenfranchised white youths to people like the EDL and BNP, as that seems to be the only place they find any pride in being who they are.

This kind of ‘whites don’t matter’ attitude is the worst kind of double standard, ironically such double standards in regards to race is normally termed, racism.

Met Office Can’t Predict the Weather

Coldest Winter in 30 Years

Never in the field of human science has so many lies been told to so many, by so few

Met Office’s debate over longer-term forecasts

The UK Met Office is debating what to do with its long-term and seasonal forecasting after criticism for failing to predict extreme weather.

This is quite amusing. The apparently independent Met Office, who predict all the weather in the UK, from the next day forecasts right up to predictions on ‘Climate Change’ some 20, 50 and even 100 years in the future; cannot actually predict anything.

[The Met Office] has been criticised for failing to predict in its seasonal forecasts that the UK would suffer this cold winter or the previous three wet summers.

Well, there is a very good reason for that isn’t there? They could not possible predict colder weather, when more than 25% of their budget comes from ‘Climate Change Research’!

After being rapped for its now notorious “barbecue summer” press release, the winter forecast was expressed in probabilistic terms, with a 66% likelihood that the winter would be warmer than average and a one in seven chance that it would be colder.

One in seven chance that it would be colder, and yet it turned out to be the coldest winter for more than 30 years! The coldest winter since this ‘Global Warming’ business began. And that of course is the important thing as:

The Met Office admits its annual global mean forecast predicted temperatures higher than actual temperatures for nine years out of the last 10.

Now why would that be? It has become almost like a religion, they believe it so much and think that if they want it hard enough, it will happen. The fact is that the Met Office has been over egging Global Warming for years, telling us that things are getting so much more worse and the new catch phrase of course of ‘Time Is Running Out’ but evidently not as quickly as the Met Office, or indeed the Hadley Centre, would like.

SCHTOP! Global Warming is not ready yet!

Woman going for a dip in a frozen river

Crazy People: Some made use of the fact that the rivers were frozen by going for a dip or ice skating. Something rarely possible since the Victorian cold spell.

The fact that they keep predicting that Global Warming is continuing apace, when anyone can see that it is not, displays quite clearly that the Met Office is no longer fit for purpose. It wouldn’t be so bad if they came clean and admitted they their predictions are wrong, but no, they are claiming that the actual temperatures are wrong and their predictions are right!

Professor Chris Folland from the Met Office said a re-analysis of weather science might even show that the actual temperature measurements have under-recorded recent warming – making the Met Office forecast even more accurate than it appears.

Quite right Prof Folland, this is indeed a warmer than average winter, my thermometers and indeed my eye sight are clearly under recording the weather! This is unbelievable, the man is clearly clutching at straws and refuses to believe anything that contradicts his doctrine. The man is not a scientist, he has become a preacher.

But some scientists contacted by BBC News say the organisation needs to discover why there is a consistent bias towards warming, however slight.

Money, pure and simple. They are the champions of a billion pound industry, and as I have said, they receive more than a quarter of their funding from the government to investigate Global Warming. You do not have to be Sherlock Holmes to realise that they might not be the quickest to pour cold water on the whole Global Warming nonsense.

Global Warming Cult

As I said earlier it has become a pseudo religion. It has been stated that we are building up to Thermogeddon, and that cannot, under any circumstances, falter or deviate from the pre-determined pattern of global warming. Like all good zealots, they are perfectly prepared to ignore, or as the Climate Gate emails demonstrated, doctor, any evidence to the contrary.

“The warming bias is admittedly very small – but the Met Office has to address why it is there. It will certainly be very difficult to get rid of – they can’t just knock a bit off their forecast – that would be totally unscientific.”

Unscientific? As is adding this bias in the first place, it has nothing to do with science or even any real scientific methodology. They believe it should be warmer, so they add the bias, regardless of the facts.

The short term forecasts are excellent. They should say the longer-term ones are highly uncertain, then keep modifying them.

And this is the crux of the matter. Their short term forecast may well be excellent, but hell, even I can look out of the window and see a cloudy sky and know that it is likely to rain, and I am no meteorologist. The problem lies with their long term forecasts and they seem to rely completely on flawed computer modeling.

‘If you run the (computer) model one year it might not come out right but over 50-100 years you will be able to predict that the climate is getting warmer on average but not if, say, 2031 will be a warmer or a colder year.’

Absolute rubbish. Computers cannot predict the future, nor can they predict the weather. They can only predict an outcome based on the variables and parameters that they are given. Now if the Met Office is adding the same ‘warming bias’ to these computer models, then obviously these too will be inaccurate. Worse, the margin of error will increase year on year and means that in 100 years, the warming bias will have carried the prediction to a ridiculous extreme.

The important line in his statement is this ‘…you will be able to predict that the climate is getting warmer…‘ that is not a prediction. You cannot know the outcome before even running the computer models unless the computer has been programmed to come up with that prediction. If I create a spreadsheet to work out my incomings and outgoings and my monthly surplus, I do not start off by stating that ‘I can create a spreadsheet to ensure that my monthly surplus is £700!’

But I guess that is the problem with the Climate Change Creed. They know the outcome that they want, that they believe in, they just need to computer models to prove it. Easy, when you program in a bias to ensure thermogeddon.

Dissenting Voices

A young child builds her first, and according to the Met Office predictions, last, snowman.

According to Met Office long term predictions, this snowman cannot exist, indeed this child should never have seen a snowman in her whole life. As Britain was due to be a desert by her 16th birthday.

It seems that these days, one must look to independent forecasters to get any accurate or old fashioned truthful information.

Others see the problem as one of forecasting rather than communication. Piers Corbyn, the independent weather forecaster, predicted the winter cold many months ago, to the surprise of many meteorologists. He says the Met Office failed to warn of extreme events in their seasonal forecasts because they are employing a computer model based on the assumption of man-made climate change.

That is the point. They have already ‘predicted’ that it is going to get warmer, which means that all of the predictions of the Met Office are flawed. It doesn’t matter whether they decide to no longer publish their seasonal forecasts, their long term ‘Climate Change’ forecasts will still be wrong and they will continue to be more and more erroneous as time goes on.

No wonder that more than half of people in Britain no longer believe in Global Warming.

The BNP might be racist, but are they the only option?

Nick Griffin: Barmy and not helped by his mad eyed look

BBC NEWS | Politics | Griffin complaint over BBC ‘mob’

BNP leader Nick Griffin is to complain to the BBC over his controversial appearance on Question Time, saying he had faced a “lynch mob”.

I have to admit that this was the strangest question time that I have ever seen, and also the most compelling.

I cannot have been the only one wondering what the crazy one-eyed racist was going to do, and then, when it was clear that Gordon Brown was not going to try and block Question Time, what Griffin would do.

Was it a lynch mob? Of course, but then what did Nick Griffin expect? Whether he believes that he was hard done by and it was biased, these were the questions that the public wanted answering.

The Racist

In the end Griffin came across and a slightly bonkers, babbling buffoon. By the end he seemed to become more and more unhinged and was almost frothing at the mouth. Initially the man came across like the unpopular kid at school, desperately trying to get in with the cool gang by laughing at their jokes, hanging around and behaving in a generally awkward and unsettling manner.

He was shaking at the off and looked terrified, but then, this wasn’t the usual working men’s club full of uneducated underclass, this was the big table. His lies, such as denying he said things, when the video footage was clearly available, and deflecting questions, weren’t going to wash here, and that appeared to be what worried him.

It was a poor performance overall and he managed to demonstrate that his moderate stance was a façade, merely hiding his deep seated hatred. The BBC must have been rubbing their hands in glee when they placed him next to black intellectual, Bonnie Greer, a person who, under Griffin’s true White Supremacist views, cannot exist.

That said, despite his views the monster behaved and treated Greer as an equal. The same cannot be said of Greer who thought it appropriate to turn her back on him throughout the programme, clearly under the impression that being disrespectful to someone because of their views, is different from being disrespectful to someone because of their colour. Prejudice is prejudice and it was clearly an ill thought out move on the part of Greer.

In Britain, at least in my day, we were brought up to respect the views of others, even if we disagreed with them, and treating someone with contempt merely because of their views is wrong. I would never do the same to a Global Warming nut.

Culture

Youseff Bashir and people like him hate Britain, its culture and all it stands for

Despite all Griffin’s failings, his ravings, his inexplicable fits of laughter and disturbed appearance, had he changed ‘race’ to culture, I would have agreed with most of what he said. Does that make me a racist? Moreover, do I care – no. If protecting my culture upsets others – tough, their culture is no doubt protected elsewhere, mine is not. There is a creeping realisation in Britain, predominately but not exclusively amongst whites, that their culture is being eroded.

In schools Christmas is no longer celebrated, but Divali and Eid are. Anything Christian or traditionally British is deemed either too white, or worse, racist. Which is of course dressed up in buzz words such as divisive, or not inclusive or diverse enough.

Griffin’s remark:

“They must acknowledge that Britain always has been, and must remain – and it’s right that it must remain – a fundamentally British and Christian country based on Western democratic values and not on the eternal values of the Qu’ran.”

Is something that many, many people agree with. I am not a Christian, but the Christian values that this country is based on, or at least were during my youth, have made me the person that I am today, hard working and law abiding. I haven’t moved to another country, I still live in the same country that my ancestors did, so why should those core values change, or indeed why should I need to change?

The point is that I shouldn’t, but we are being brow beaten into accepting other cultures being superior to our own and those that speak out are branded racist xenophobes. The problem is that there is no middle ground, there is no one else tackling these issues other than the BNP, the other parties are running scared as after 50 years of promoting ‘multicultural diversity’ they have no idea what British is anymore and are terrified of upsetting a minority.

As a black man pointed out on the show (demonstrating once again that this isn’t just a ‘white’ or ‘race’ issue), it is because no one wants to tackle immigration that the BNP are becoming more popular. They are the only ones talking of preserving British culture.

Immigration

Marek Harcar: Despite having numerous convictions for violence he had no trouble getting into Britain to commit murder. Of course now deporting him would breach his human rights!

I have never heard a convincing argument for a multicultural society. Ironically Bonnie Greer pointed out Rome as a multicultural society that flourished, stating that anyone could become a Roman citizen, regardless of race. Which was true, if they were prepared to serve a decade or more in the army. A test of loyalty and dedication that we should perhaps employ in modern Britain, that way, at least the Gurkha’s who seem to be the only people not allowed to settle here, would be allowed to settle here.

Rome eventually fell due to multiculturalism, the advantages gained by the Marius reforms were slowly diluted as more and more cultures were absorbed into the Empire and the army. By the end the Roman army was a pale shadow of its former self, Rome itself had lost many of its ideals, beliefs (adopting Christianity as the official religion for one), culture and military ethos. In the end relying on other hardy and warlike people to do the fighting for them, who then eventually turned on the weak Romans. After all, why continue to fight to protect the weak Roman culture,  when their own was superior?

There are many obvious parallels to be drawn between Rome and modern Britain but no positives that I can see. Baroness Warsi also tried to explain the positives of multiculturalism/immigration stating that ‘Britain should have the brightest and the best here’, sadly for Warsi and the other proponents of multi-ethnic Britain, it is the polar opposite that is actually happening.

We are getting the criminals, the lazy and the dregs of other societies landing here, people whom, if they were British citizens, would not get in anywhere else but here they are most welcome. People like Marek Harcar and Ali Majlat, who, when arrested,  the police in their home nations were gob smacked that they were ever allowed here. So easy is it to come here that Interpol believes that many of Europe’s most wanted criminals are hiding in plain sight in Britain.

Currently almost 20% of all the criminals locked up in British prisons are foreign nationals, and more than 20% of all British murderers are foreign nationals, this ridiculous situation cannot be allowed to continue.

Baroness Warsi and Jack Straw seemed to like the expression, ‘We cannot just pull up the drawbridge..’, well I’d like to know, if they don’t think they should pull it up now with a quarter of all criminals in Britain immigrants, just when they think it would be a good time to do so? When 50% of prisoners are foreign nationals? 80%? Or when the rest of the world decides to use as a huge Alcatraz and walls us all in?

Deporting those that have no business being here, and stopping immigrants from entering this country would cut the crime and murder rates by 20%, who would not think that was a good idea? People like Jack Straw who have round the clock protection and live in areas not affected by crime. Let’s be honest here, immigrants don’t move to the sort of areas that MPs live in, and they are not eligible for their jobs!

Jack ‘Not in the Face’ Straw

Jack Straw: Teary eyed, like his father was at the thought of having to fight those nasty Nazi’s.

I thought that Jack Straw was quite a decent, opened minded bloke, but I found his talk about Churchill and the Nazi’s sickening. He then later brought up the fact that he was from a family of Jewish immigrants, which made it all the more startling that his father had decided to sit out World War II, and leave the fighting to people like my family.

My grandfather’s brother died protecting Jack Straw’s cowardly father, yet my grandfather is a pensioner struggling on the breadline, whilst Straw, never having had to lift a finger to protect his comforts nor make the ultimate sacrifice like so many others, is now sitting pretty.

It disgusted me that he thought it OK to lecture someone else about the war, when his family did not make the sacrifices that others did, did not do their duty like others did, but reaped more of the benefits than many of the others. He tried to use his family history to point out positives of immigration but all it did was bury the argument, Straw’s family and father were content to take all the benefits of living in Britain, but not fight to defend those freedoms. Which begs the question of whether modern immigrants would follow the Straw example of loyalty.

Because that loyalty could not be relied upon, during the war in which Straw’s dad excused himself, World War II, they rounded up all the Germans in Britain and kept them in prison camps. The Americans did the same with the Japanese. Today, it would be impossible. With Britain likely to get sucked into a war in Pakistan, and with Pakistan the country of origin for most immigrants in Britain, and also most foreign nationals languishing in prison, it could be a security disaster. Indeed so lax are things here, Al Qaeda or the Taliban could very well run their war from Britain, with less fear of getting caught or even deported if they were.

Much as Straw and the others would have us think that these are simply race issues, they are not. It isn’t just a case of black and white, there are a myriad of issues to do with immigration and not least the erosion of our culture and values but also issues of security, stability and crime. The more that politicians dodge this issue, a fact which was very clear on Question Time once again, the more people will move to the BNP.

Our political leaders have basically said that it is their way or the highway, and I’m not for doing it their way.

Britain to Melt and Crumble into the Sea – again!

Global Warming in Action: No one, it seems, has released that to reverse global warming, we need only turn the timer upside down.

BBC NEWS | Health | ‘Prepare for a heatwave’ UK told

In preparation for a potential heatwave this summer, people need to make sure they have a fair weather friend they can call on for aid, officials advise.

Another summer, another attempt to make out that global warming is worse than ever or even upon us now.

Hysteria

The hysteria peddled by the Ministry for Information seems to know no bounds in modern Britain. On the radio today during one advert break I was treated to no less than three Government information advertisements, yes three Government adverts in a five minute advert break. Last week during one of my infrequent trips to the cinema I was likewise treated to three Government adverts on a range of issues.

The Malteser and Vodka adverts are to be expected, but should we really be having three adverts from our own Government before a film? I am sure that even Cubans would baulk at such blatant propaganda.

It is amazing to think that even during a recession, when most businesses are curbing their spending on advertising, the Government is spending more than ever; and we are talking a hell of a lot.

In the past decade the money spent on advertising by the Government has increased between 15-25% each year. This year the Government will pass Procter and Gamble as the UK’s biggest advertiser, spending more on adverts than anyone else. This year almost half a billion pounds will be spent on propaganda on everything from Road Safety, Swine Flu, Binge Drinking, Obesity, Smoking and of course Climate Change.

Thermageddon

This £500 million get us little pearls of wisdom from the Ministry of Information such as:

It says homeowners can stay cool by painting their houses white and planting shrubs for shade.

Painting my house white? I live in the Midlands, not the Med. No doubt I have seen more UK summers than the person who wrote that advice. If I wanted shade I’d step into the kitchen, and let’s face it, during the apocalyptic heatwave that we are facing, what kind of an idiot sits in the garden, even if it is under the shade of a shrub?

Other tips include identifying the coolest room in the house.

That shouldn’t be a problem, I daresay for most people, particularly the elderly, it is the room that they had to avoid all winter as they couldn’t afford to get it properly warm due to the sky high energy prices during the coldest winter in years.

The Met Office says it is too early to tell whether it will be a very hot summer this year, but the signs so far are that it will be warmer than our last two summers…

Yet they have been saying the same thing for years. Chances are that, like last year, and many years before apart from the couple of summers that caused this hysteria, it will be a typical British summer, warm, occasionally wet with a few hot days. My money however, is on 2009 being the coolest summer for years.

Britain’s first Muslim Minister, turns out to be quite expensive

There for the taking: Malik hasn’t let things like honesty, integrity or morality get in the way of his greed.

Shahid Malik stands down as Justice Minister after PM orders inquiry into his expenses – Times Online

Shahid Malik, the Justice Minister exposed as the biggest expenses claimant of all MPs, was forced to step down today to await the outcome of an inquiry into his living costs.

Shahid Malik is not short on ambition. Not content with being the first Muslim Minister, he decided to go on to become the worst swindler out of 646 self-serving, corrupt, deceivers; which is no mean feat.

Only sorry to be caught

Malik refused to even apologise for his extravagant ways, instead promising to give the money taxpayers unknowingly gave him for his new entertainment system to a local charity. No doubt this charity would be run by a certain Mr. Tahir Zaman, who just happens to be Malik’s landlord, neighbour and friend.

It appears that like Malik, Zaman is also living the life of Riley at the taxpayers expense, all thanks to Shahid Malik’s generosity with our money. Malik seems to be under the impression that once elected, he need never pay for anything again; little wonder then that he is Britain’s most expensive MP.

The man even had the cheek to claim back a £65 fine for non-payment of council tax on his expenses, and was granted it! A £730 massage chair, because apparently he is unable to do his job without it, and a £2000+ television were just a couple of the other expenses we know about.

Shahid Malik has been costing the taxpayers almost half a million pounds a year since he was elected.

What’s all this then?

Policeman: Many years ago they used to be used to combat crime; today they are Government enforcers

At last the ‘Plod’, as Boris Johnson calls them, are going to investigate this whole mess.

a panel of senior Scotland Yard officers and prosecutors will meet next week to decide what action to take over claims MPs misused expenses. Officials will assess whether criminal inquiries are necessary in the aftermath of the scandal.

I am surprised that they have to meet to discuss it, surely this is a sure-fire way of hitting those performance targets; there must be at least 600 odd fraudsters within that House.

It will be interesting to see Shahid Malik in court trying this defence with a Judge:

“I have absolutely nothing to apologise for. I have done nothing wrong,” he told the BBC. “I have not been at the periphery of the rules. I haven’t abused the rules, I have been absolutely at the core of the rules.”

Lord Ahmed and Shahid Malik: Malik may follow his rotund friend into prison, if there is any Justice for the Justice Minister

He may change his story when he has to produce all of his receipts, and not just the ones we know about.

We’ll see what the police and potentially a judge make of his claims, for starters they should investigate his relationship with Tahir Zaman.

Fraud covers a lot of things; failing to disclose information, abuse of position, and false representation; the fact that he’s an MP pretty much guarantees that he is guilty of all three.

Milking the system

Malik though, has an excuse for everything.

I rang the Fees Office and asked if there was a limit to what I could spend before I bought a TV and they said. ‘No’.

Normal people tend to call their limit – what they can afford. Someone who earns £100,000+ a year can more than afford to purchase his own TV.

I did think at the time that was madness.

But he still went out and bought the most expensive TV he could find anyway?

I’m not in it to make money, I’m here to make a difference.

It’s funny how all MPs seem to say the same, yet then they have us furnish their homes, pay for their luxuries and constantly demand inflation busting pay rises to compensate for their hardwork. So much for serving the community and community spirit.

Surely Shahid Malik can understand why people think he may be out to make a fortune from being an MP? After all, normal people aren’t able to pay off their mortgage in three years, like Malik apparently did. Malik’s father was also a politician, so more than likely Malik is quite used to spending public money and corruption.

With the police and CPS firmly in the pockets of the Government, and more than a little scared of MPs, I am not going to hold my breath for a prosecution.

Banks lose information on 1m customers

It seems that these stories are starting to crop up with alarming regularity, if it’s not the Government that is losing this information it is someone else, this time it is the banks.

Personal data of 1m bank customers found on eBay | Mail Online

Personal details of more than a million bank customers have been found on a computer sold on eBay.

This isn’t the first time that the banks have been exposed as being lackadaisical with our information. BBC TVs Watchdog programme has show time and again that the banks simply dump credit cards, bank statements, loan applications, and other sensitive information, out with the rubbish for anyone to go through.

This sort of negligence really needs to be a serious offence, so that companies are forced to do something, rather than asked albeit using stern words, to please be careful.

The banks are taking a tougher line with identity theft, shifting the blame onto customers for ‘clicking links in emails‘ or having ‘unsecure computers‘, and trying to make customers prove that they have been a victim. When clearly their own procedures are lax.

Tom Milksop – Chairman RBS

I am a customer of one of these banks, and as one of the two computers (that we know about – they are not obliged to tell us) hasn’t yet been found I could become a victim of fraud. I will now be scrutinising all my bank account and credits cards all the more, just in case. And should I be a victim I am going to have spend time and money proving it and trying to get my money back.

If people were able to sue the banks for this kind of data loss, it would quickly become a thing of the past. Instead we have an Information Commissioner who, on very rare occasions, will fine a company for a serious data breach.

Last year the Financial Services Authority fined Nationwide £980,000 after it lost a laptop containing customer information.

For companies that make upwards of £6 billion a year from British customers, £1 million is a drop in the ocean and hardly likely to make them spend money on decent security procedures and training. But if 1m customers could sue for negligence….

I am sure that would make all the banks buck up their ideas.

‘Reckless’ ministers lose 3,200 laptops and mobile phones from Whitehall | Mail Online

More than 3,200 laptops and mobile phones containing sensitive information have been lost or stolen from Government departments, it was revealed on Monday.

Shame the same thing couldn’t be done to the Government too.

David Kelly’s Body Moved

David Kelly’s body may have been moved as it has emerged that a police helicopter, fitted with thermal imaging equipment, flew over the exact spot where Kelly’s body lay, yet didn’t seem him.

Why did a heat-seeking helicopter fly over the exact spot where David Kelly’s body was found – and detect nothing? | Mail Online

Police failed to find the body of missing Government scientist David Kelly despite using a helicopter with heat-seeking equipment and flying over the exact spot where his corpse was later discovered.

I never really believed that David Kelly had committed suicide, and the more I read about it the more convinced I became that Kelly had been suicided for making Tony Blair look the idiot that he was. There was just too much that didn’t make sense, especially the fact that there wasn’t an inquest just a pointless whitewash of an inquiry led by Hutton. The more I saw of that inquiry the more I thought there was something more to it.

This latest information just reinforces that belief. If a state of the art thermal imaging camera that can read a car number plate at 1000ft didn’t seem him, then there appears to be only one rational explanation, he wasn’t there.

Norman Baker, the MP who wrote a book about the death of David Kelly and claimed to have had evidence that proved Kelly murdered wiped from his hard drive, will probably make a second book of this.
